Key idea: To improve seasonal forecasts in South America, a region where there is seasonal forecast skill and useful value
First EUROBRISA workshop: Paraty, 17-19 March 2008

Objectives

Give EUROBRISA partners chance to get to know each other (network building);
Update partners on EUROBRISA developments by partners giving talks on what each partner has been doing;
Identify research developments required for improving South America seasonal forecasts;
Identify user needs and research developments required for applied activities (e.g. agriculture, hydropower and health);
Define future plans for the coming year (e.g. research developments, publications);

Aims
Strengthen collaboration and promote exchange of expertise and information between European and South American seasonal forecasters

Produce improved well-calibrated real-time probabilistic seasonal forecasts for South America

Develop real-time forecast products for non-profitable governmental use (e.g. reservoir management, hydropower production, and agriculture).
